FALL FAVORITES 2014
Fall is such a fun time of year for fashion and beauty. Deeper and richer colors are every where. When I think of fall colors and fall fashion, I think rich, expensive-looking trends. Fall means colder weather, which I think makes a lot of people sad, but I always look at it as an opportunity to buy and wear more clothes!! Here are some of my favorite things for the fall!
Ombre hair techniques and color melts are everywhere! I am particularly in love with rich and warm caramel tones. So beautiful, what's not to love? Want to really rock the caramel ombre hair color? I wrote a post about how to talk to your hairdresser for beautiful ombre hair color HERE.
2. Leopard Print
I can't get enough leopard print these days. If I see anything leopard print, I 'gotta' have it! I just got my daughter two pairs of leopard print shoes. She is so freaking adorable in them! I especially love leopard print accessories; shoes, scarves, handbags! This handbag is Betsey Johnson. She has a ton of leopard print bags right now. Click HERE to shop Betsey Johnson's handbags.
3. Dark Boyfriend Jeans
I love boyfriend jeans, for all the wrong reasons probably, but I love them and I am glad they are in. I am a mom of two and while I am satisfied with my body, it's not what it used to be. That being said, the loose style of boyfriend jeans hides a little more of my baby mama pooch. The loose fit also gives me a little wiggle room to get down and play with my kiddos. I love mixing the masculine trouser pant with feminine details, too; like heels, florals, and blouses. I prefer dark denim over light because it is more slimming. My favorite place to buy denim is, hands down, LEVIS.COM. Every once in a while, I get lucky and find a pair for cheap at an outlet store or a TJ Maxx or Ross.
4. Red Lipstick (Lancome)
For a long time, I had been loving the dark/bright lip trend but I was scared to try it because I totally saw myself with lipstick on my teeth or lipstick smeared all over my face and I didn't want to spend money on that. Well, my wonderful mother-in-law gave me some red Lancome lipstick (she claimed it was great) so I tried it and Va Va Voom! Oh man, I felt so hot and trendy and powerful, and all those other great adjectives. I put the lipstick on at about 10 AM, ate lunch, shopped all day without reapplying it and that lipstick stayed on til 8 PM! It didn't smudge and it didn't get on my teeth. Lancome lipstick is amazing! Never underestimate the power of a good lipstick. As much as I love this stuff, though, I don't wear it much because I can't give my hubby and sweet babies kisses without getting it all over them! Click HERE to purchase Lancome Rouge in Love 181.
5. Ankle Boots
I don't have much to say about ankle boots except they look great with boyfriend jeans, right? I found a pair at Ross similar to the ones above and I am excited for the cooler weather just so I can wear them. For me, I need ankle boots with a heel even if its just a little one to lengthen me. Ankle boots cut you off at the skinniest part of your leg so you have to make sure you pair them with the right clothing and/or a good heel so they flatter you. If not, they can make you look short and heavyset.
6. Jamberry Nail Wraps (Floral Prints)
I am pretty sure everyone knows about these and they are so cool! Seriously, if you have not tried them, you need to try them. These things could give nail techs a run for their money. They last for 2-3 weeks and they have the cutest prints to choose from (over 300 to be exact). This floral print is my favorite pattern of theirs. I love vintage-y floral prints right now. You need to buy yourself some of these; They are awesome! Click HERE to buy yo'self some Jamberry Nail Wraps!

LIGHTEN AND TRIM
Chelsea had quite a bit of regrowth and wanted to be a little lighter. Her natural hair is a level 7. I did an all over weave on Chelsea using Rusk Deep Shine Blue Conditioning Lightener with 10 volume developer then switched to a 20 volume on the last portion of her hair. I lifted her hair as light as it would go which was a nice whitish/neutral blonde so there was no need to tone. I cut off about two inches to freshen up her hair. Sometimes a trim is all you need and can make a huge difference. I am so happy to have worked with this lovely lady.

GET BEAUTIFUL OMBRE HAIR COLOR
I have seen a lot of ombre hair colors lately which makes me super excited because it is a trend that I am in love with and it's safe to say that it is here to stay! I like to think ombre hair color got it's start from those natural beach babes who spent all summer in the sun, when winter came the sun bleached hair would grow out creating a beautiful ombre hair color. Despite what you may believe, the girl who was too poor to get back to the salon and had harsh lines of demarcation was not the trendsetter. There is nothing I hate more than a bad hair color. To make sure you are not the one walking around with a horrible ombre hair color, here are three things to tell your stylist.
1. Work with your natural hair color and go lighter
I love ombres because of how natural they look and how low maintenance they are. I have seen a lot of people dye their roots darker than their natural and ombre from that point... This is a mess! Especially if you want to change it later on down the road or if you can't make regular salon visits. My advice is don't use a darker color at all and just go lighter from your natural hair color. If your hair is dyed or bleached lighter than your natural hair color, have your stylist weave in a color that is the same as your natural, leaving out the ends.
2. Don't just lighten the ends
In order to get a beautiful ombre color that melts into itself and blends, you need a few fine slices of lighter color that goes all the way to the scalp. How many slices of color you'll need depends on the thickness of your hair. If it's fine, opt for 5-10 slices of color throughout the head. Thicker hair could probably do 15-20 slices. Also, the best ombre hair colors weave color in the ends versus just lightening every single strand on the ends. Doing this will also make it easier to maintain the health of your hair.
3. Start out subtle
This is more of a preference for me as a hairdresser. But the reason I say to start out subtle is to maintain the health of your hair, to make sure you like it, and to get the absolute best and most natural results. The best ombre colors are not achieved in one salon visit but instead 2 or 3 visits allowing your own natural color to grow in, then having it blended into beautiful light shades on the ends.
I hope this all makes sense. Feel free to ask questions or to have me elaborate on anything. In most cases, your hairdresser should understand what you are wanting.

FAMILY TRIP TO BEAR LAKE
At the beginning of July, we spent some time in Bear Lake with family. We had a blast and I was able to get some great pictures of Florabelle. Florabelle was in heaven with all her cousins, space to run, sunshine and water. Augustus was happy just snoozing in his car seat. We soaked up sun, swam, and drank colas and Capri Suns all day! There are few things I love more than swimming in the sun! One of my dreams is to own an outdoor swimming pool one day so I can have moments like these all the time!

BEACH WAVES FOR STRAIGHT HAIR (W/OUT HEAT)
I love messy, Victoria's Secret model, beachy hair but my hair is fine, flat and straight. Don't get me wrong, I love my hair. Its naturally smooth, soft, shiny and easy to style but from time to time I like to switch it up and who doesn't want to look even just a little bit like a Victoria's Secret model. I am always looking for new products to achieve this natural messy look without having to spend a lot of time on it (I am a mom of two!) or having to damage it with heat. I am very excited to introduce to you these products from AG that helped me to get this look. They are Beach Bomb and Texture Spray. So many beachy hair products either weigh my hair down and make it greasy or dry it out and make it frizzy! Amazingly these products do neither but manage to make my hair healthier. Before I bought these products, (I bought them in a set called Beachy Bliss) I went online to read the description and was a bit skeptical because of all the things it claimed to do. At first, this product sounded to good to be true but, lucky for me, it wasn't! I just apply 1 to 2 pumps of the Beach Bomb then scrunch my hair real good and let it air dry or diffuse it. Then once it is dry I use the texture spray scrunching a little more to give my hair volume, definition, and piece-y-ness Both products smell A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Here is just a bit more information on each product and why I love them:
Beach Bomb
This product has a coconut verbana smell that takes you right to the beach! Beach Bomb contains a special ingredient in it that enhances curl. It also has proteins and amino acids that give the hair strength, moisture, elasticity, and shine. It is free of alcohol, parabens, and salt making hair smooth and shiny rather than frizzy. Texture Spray
The AG Texture Spray smells like a high quality perfume and has sunflower seed extract in it to protect hair color from UV rays that can cause discoloration. It doesn't make hair greasy or weigh it down but gives hair a languid "lived in" look. I used this spray when I styled my hair straight and it was awesome. A lot of people love second day hair, I personally love clean hair, but I imagine that this product gives that second day feeling that people love so much. READ MORE ABOUT AG TEXTURE SPRAY HERE >>

DAY 2 OF PHOTO CHALLENGE
Today, for my 30 day photo challenge, I needed to take a picture of my outfit. Because I am a mom of two now, I am wearing a lot of jeans and t-shirts and keeping things simple and comfortable. I try to make my look stylish with accessories. Some trends that I am loving right now are boyfriend jeans and chunky strap sandals. I really like the tattered and torn boyfriend jeans but this particular pair I found at Target and I had to have them. I can't resist dark denim. I just love it! There is something about dark jeans that just makes me feel put together. I got the sandals at Ross and they are Rampage brand. The sunglasses and earrings were gifts that my husband picked out. He finds some pretty great stuff like these bow earrings! I love them; they are a go to accessory for me. The bracelet is a THRIFT STORE FIND that I will share more info on later. Hope you enjoy!
